Alex Espargaro: The Mandalika Circuit is beautiful but strange...
Aprilia Racing rider Aleix Espargaro learned about the beautiful scenery of the Mandalika Circuit located in central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, but Alex Espargaro found the Mandalika circuit strange in terms of the nature of the track.
Alex Espargaro is one of 24 riders who will participate in the pre-season 2022 MotoGP test at Mandalika Circuit from February 11-13, 2022.
The Spaniard landed in Lombok on Monday (07/02/2222) in the afternoon WEST.
After completing a 24-hour quarantine, Alex Espargaro decided to tour the Kuta area, central Lombok, by bike.
While traveling, Aleix Espargaró bought a card from a local phone provider at one of the credit unions owned by locals.
The moment Aleix Espargaró bought the supplier card, it already went viral on social networks.
Recently, Espargaro was seen riding his bicycle at the Mandalika Circuit on Wednesday (9/2/2022) local time.
Although he has never ridden his motorcycle at the Mandalica Circuit, Alex Espargaro already has a rating for the 4.3 km track.
Alex Espargaro considered the Mandalika circuit strange and different from most racetracks in Europe.
The rating cannot be separated from the width of the circle and also from the point of inflection of the Mandalika circle.
However, Alex Espargaro admitted that he was amazed by the beauty of the Mandalika Circuit.
"I chose to cycle to keep myself in shape. I also took the time to cycle at the Mandalika circuit," Alex Espargaro was quoted by Sky Sports Italia as saying.
"The Mandalika Circuit is very beautiful. However, I think this is a strange track," Alex Espargaro added.
“The Mandalika circuit is different from the one we found in Europe. The track here is very wide. There are a lot of changes in direction before the point where it requires high speed,” said the former Suzuki Ekstar rider.
“However, Aprilia has worked very well. We have a good bike,” Alex Espargaro said.
"We will try to confirm the good result we got in Sepang (Malaysia) last week here," Alex Espargaro said.
Nearby, Alex Espargaro and all the other riders are scheduled to take to the track at Mandalika Circuit on Thursday (1/10/2022).
The Mandalika Circuit, whose construction began in 2019, was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in November 2021.
At the end of last year, the Mandalika Circuit successfully held the final series of the 2021 World Super Bika (WSBK) race.
One of the attractions of the Mandalika Circuit is its location facing the Indian Ocean.
Kuta Beach and Tanjung An are the closest beach areas to the Mandalika Circuit.
The Mandalika circuit has a total of 17 turns with details of 11 right and six left turns.
Mandalika will also host the second series of the MotoGP World Championship this season.
The 2022 Indonesian MotoGP Championship is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2022, or two weeks after the inaugural Qatar MotoGP series.
The pre-season MotoGP test and race in Indonesia is sure to turn heads as Mandalika is currently the only street circuit for the MotoGP World Championship.
