What evidence has come out since Trump was impeached?
Adam Schiff, Speaker of the House Intelligence Committee, in his opening remarks on Wednesday, pointed out new evidence that emerged from the council's initial investigation.
"There is much more evidence of the president's guilt, and he continues to prevent him" from political trial proceedings, Schiff said.
New evidence includes:
- The statements of the Ukrainian businessman Lev Barnas,
- An offer from former National Security Adviser John Bolton to testify if the Senate quotes him
- A government monitoring report says that the Trump administration has violated the main laws of the federal budget by withholding unilateral aid from Ukraine
Emails and media reports shed more light on the machinations surrounding the detained aid.
Democrats and Republicans are debating in the United States Senate whether to call in new witnesses and provide additional evidence at President Donald Trump's political trial.
With Trump's allies dominating the 53-47 majority in the Senate, Democrats are raising the issue with Senators on the basis of whether Republicans will "cover" Trump's actions by rejecting witnesses.
Republicans assume that political trial investigators in the House of Representatives rushed through an unfair process and failed to attach sufficient evidence to their case.
Meanwhile, the new revelation in the still unfolding scandal raises new questions and raises calls to the Senate to hear more witnesses.
The investigation into the political trial of the House of Representatives resulted in 35 hours of public hearings with 12 witnesses and collected hundreds of pages of documents for transmission to the Senate.
